Hemp vs Trees

Hemp crops have many benefits that can help change the world- Forest deforestation and paper product waste is a huge problem that Hemp crops can help fight.

Trees have been used for years for the production of various different products world wide. Trees take a long time to grow (20-80 years) and consume many acres of land at a time. We are already cutting down trees at an alarming rate and as our forests start to disappear, climate change will only increase. Trees are vital to the earth, as they are known for being the earths “lungs”- they play a main part in removing carbon dioxide and returning oxygen back to the environment.
As trees decrease by being used for products, we are bound to bring on more and more greenhouse gases, dry up the land and run into a problem with the lack of oxygen being produced.

Hemp is a very versatile crop that has many positive benefits towards the environment. Hemp can take up to 120 days to grow and one acre of Hemp can produce as much as 4-10 acres of trees. This plant helps eliminate four more times the amount of carbon dioxide than trees do.
Hemp is high in cellulose which is one of the main ingredients in paper, in fact Hemp can have up to a 85% cellulose content while trees are made up of only 30%.
Hemp fibres are extremely strong and durable as well as they are fire resistant, mold and mildew resistant.
Hemp paper will not deteriorate, yellow, or crack and is environmentally friendly as it is biodegradable which in return can also help stop deforestation and climate change.

The facts are here and have been around for awhile. Hemp crops help eliminate four times more carbon dioxide than trees, they grow in 120 days and take up much less farm land than trees do, protect our non-renewable resources and help reduce greenhouse gases in our air. Anything that trees produce
nowadays Hemp can do faster, stronger, lighter and is more environmentally friendly at a cheaper cost.

“Why use up the forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which required ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of hemp fields?”- Henry Ford.
